Meet your Artists
Lauren Maureen
Owner & Tattoo Artist (She/Her)
Lauren is a tattoo artist (formerly a piercer) and the owner of Emerald Sun Studios.
She attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, and received a bachelor’s degree in Interior Architecture. Interior Architecture is fascinating, but she is much more fulfilled tattooing and running her business!
She started piercing at the end of 2019 and became a business owner during 2021. Now that she has Audrey and Dylan piercing full time, she can focus more of her creative energy on tattooing! While she is interested in trying her hand at all styles, eventually she’d like to focus on a neotraditional and art-nouveau style. She is very proud of her team and the high-quality services they provide. They hold themselves to a high standard by consistently continuing their education so that they can provide their clients with the safest experience.
Outside of work she loves trail running, camping, traveling, and spending time with her family and her partner. She’s also obsessed with her cat. Shout out to the Sunshine girl (^•ܫ•^).
AlLison
Tattoo Artist (She/Her)
Allison is a Michigan native, and is absolutely thrilled to be able to share her love of art with everyone who steps through Emerald Sun Studios doors!
Allison has had a passion for art from a young age and has worked with many different mediums. She has taken multiple art classes and even been a part of a few art shows, all of which have helped her grow as a person and an artist.
Allison has been married for six years to her incredibly supportive husband, Caleb. Together, they have a son named Milo! When Allison isn't creating tattoos, she enjoys listening to folk, rock and R&B music, playing video games and spending time with her family.
Allison’s favorite tattoo styles are fine line black and grey, illustrative, American and neotraditonal, and anything that involves heavy line work. Her favorite art medium has quickly become tattooing, and she is so excited to keep creating art!
Alexa
Tattoo Artist (She/Her)
Alexa has been passionate about art for as long as she can remember. She is inspired by her uncle, who often drew and painted when she was young. She quickly became known as the “artsy” kid and constantly practiced and refined her skills by drawing animals, anime, and portraits.
Following in her mother’s footsteps, Alexa loves to travel and has explored countries like Peru, Mexico, Vietnam, and Thailand. She enjoys learning languages and immersing herself in different cultures, which influences her artistic perspective.
By high school, Alexa knew she wanted to become a tattoo artist. After graduating, she dedicated herself to building a portfolio, securing an apprenticeship, and working in a shop. She has since fallen in love with tattooing, specializing in illustrative, anime/manga, and realism.
Whitney
Tattoo Artist (She/They)
Whitney has been passionate about the arts since they could first hold a pencil. After taking every art class available throughout grade school, they went on to attend the College for Creative Studies, where they earned a Bachelor’s degree in Illustration. From the start, Whitney knew they were destined for a creative career, and tattooing quickly became the place where they felt most at home.
Outside of work, Whitney enjoys listening to music across genres, especially alternative rock, synth-pop, and post-punk. Weekends are often spent with their boyfriend exploring new restaurants and watching movies together.
In their tattooing, Whitney works comfortably in both black and grey and full color. While they specialize in fine line work, they also enjoy the opportunity to take on bold, statement pieces. Above all, Whitney loves collaborating with clients to create unique artwork that can be proudly worn for a lifetime!
